Public Catalogue Foundation;
Help Tag the Nation's Oil Paintings

Dear Chairman
Many members helped pilot the 'Your Paintings' tagging website at the end of last year. Please forward this email to your members as they may like to continue tagging paintings now the site is live on the BBC. 'Your Paintings' is a brand new website that was launched in June by the BBC and the Public Catalogue Foundation. By the end of 2012 all 200,000 oil paintings in the national collection will be on this website. Already there are over 60,000 paintings from 860 collections on Your Paintings including all the collections in Cornwall and North Yorkshire. To allow users across the world to search the thousands of paintings for subjects that interest them, the BBC and the Public Catalogue Foundation need help identifying what can be seen in each painting. Can you help with this? You will be introduced to some great paintings and asked to 'tag' them. All you need to do is to look closely at the painting and report what you see. It is easy to use and enormous fun. And don't worry, you don't need to be an art expert to tag - anyone can make a valuable contribution to this important national project. Please have a go! Visit www.bbc.co.uk/yourpaintings to see this wonderful resource and get tagging. Thank you for helping the Public Catalogue Foundation and making a contribution to this important national project.
